Vimes, Angua and Carrot by JesIdres Vimes, Angua and Carrot by JesIdres
A couple of sketches out of my loose leaf books. Vimes was drawn first, in a corner, but I got angry that I had so much extra space that I randomly drew Angua on a normal morning. Carrot just showed up to say hello.

This is how I've always figure Vimes to look like- although I've got this nasty li'l thought of Bruce Campbell playing him in the bizarre theather of my mind. He's good at angry pissers.

Angua, well, don't ask me why I drew her in modern pajamas while still wearing her collar. This was redrawn at various angles about 20 times. All in one class. There was only one similarity- Angua was sleepy, and she was cuddlin' a Carrot plushie. I was going to make a companion with Carrot with a stuffed wolf, but its hard to draw in class while you're controling your giggles. It then turned into Carrot hiding from a werewolf puppy on his desk, with a off stage Angua telling him it's just her nephew. That was both near impossible without a ruler and just and giggly. So he just came in, saluted, and was promptly attacked by a chibi Vimes, who is both just as pissed off as usual, and pissed off he's a chibi. XD I really need to draw that......

VIVA LE WATCH!

Vimes looks great otherwise, but perhaps too young.

I love how you draw Vimes. He'd murder me for saying it, but he looks almost... cute. Tough and angry, but cute. Lady Sybil's effect, I'm sure. I just love how you draw them in general. Thanks for making my day :)

Would that mean that Vimes'll use the cover id "Chuck Finley"? (Oh, I guess I should ask if you have Burn Notice....)

Well, the other two are not bad, but I imagined Vimes a little bit older and Carrot... well I don't even have an image for him. :D
Keep going, there is too less Discworldart in the World. ^^

V/ nice, couple of minor things though - chainmail, why don't Carrot and Vimes have it on? (you're probably like me and forgot, no biggie), also you may want to check out The Art of Discworld. Pterry is quite specific about what he had in mind visually for Vimes and Carrot (not really for Angua) - carrot, he claims, should look like a young Liam Neeson, and Vimes like a young Pete Postlethwaite. I picked up on the Postlethwaite thing when i first started drawing Vimes, check him out in a google search or something and you'll probably be able to compare the pics to my Vimes stuff and see the similarity (it has grown a little more vague over the last couple of years, but the nose and cheeks are definitely Postlethwaite-esque).
You don't have to listen to my incessant nit-picking, but I thought that you might be interested to know.
I love this work though (Angua's sweepy-sweepy, time for nappy-boo!)

I started to draw the chainmail on Carrot, (see the armor skirt) but mostly I'm too lazy to draw the ringlets. As for how Carrot and Vimes look, well, I have arguments (a little more over Carrot over Vimes- I think Kidby and I have similiar ideas). This is a lot how I've pictured them when I read Men at Arms. The way Kidby draws Carrot is a just a bit too long/angular for my tastes (it kept annoying me in The Last Hero).
And yes, I adore my Angua. Just don't see what happens to the Carrot doll during that time of the month....

Don't get me wrong, I love your depiction of Carrot. i just thought you might be interested to see other ideas on Carrot - from Pratchett himself no less!!
I also have trouble looking at Kidby's Carrot, he doesn't seem to be able to keep it consistent.
And I know what you mean about the ringlets, v/ time consuming.

PS:
Now I'm curious to see what happens to the Carrot doll...
Does it involve tea parties?
