Light to Guide Them Home by JesIdres Light to Guide Them Home by JesIdres
Off the coast of Georgia, in 1720, there is small island called the Jamaica Inn. Named after the inn on the island of the same name, it's the place where America and Europe's nobility come to relax and get away. Own by a woman (rumored to be either a eccentric noble or a powerful witch), she's engaged to a former privateer who now runs a modest shipping company. But his ship is missing in a squall. Can a single light, fueled out of love, guide him home?

A needed break to flesh out a new setting for my archetypes, Jess and James. And try out some new techniques in digital painting. 5 hours of painting.

I could have sworn I commented on this already, but it seems dA ate my thoughts again...

Anyways, I love the back story as well as the picture. It's so interesting the way you manage to take the same characters, toss them into a new setting, give them a new story line, and still make them endearing to the point where I want to hear more. :D

Which makes it annoying for me, because I have 20 different universes in my head, and they all want their time, and massive crossovers...

Lovely and dark, much love. I really like the gathers and folds in her dress. Details like that are what really impresses me. :D

The picture combined with the story sparked a random recognition of a Tori Amos song I adore called Jamaica Inn... *cough* If I'm not relating everything to Who or DT, I'm finding random connections to Tori. >.>; I need to be committed.

*runs off singing "the sexiest thing is trust~"*

Actually, that's the song that caused this whole mess. I just was too embarrassed to mention that. EEEEEEEEEEEE! Tori love.

Ahahaha, never be embarassed about the Tori love. You should see my CD rack.

...I even have Y Kant Tori Read. Yeah, I'm that crazy. So yeah, you have no fear of repercussions from me. :D

Whee, now that makes me wish I could +fav it again. But that might break the internet. My luck today, it probably WOULD. *snicker*

The shoes are fabulous, but they are also about 150 years too early. Think big buckles instead. Other than that I like it.

I'm just picky about historical costume. It's something of a hobby. Historical costume that is, not being picky. Although some would say otherwise.

Normally I'm hugely nitpicky, but then again, when I drew this, I was considering the 1800s. (Then the sleeves would be out). But then again, she's an eccentric witch, so maybe she set the spat fashion...

This is wonderful work and I enjoy the side story that goes along with it. I can see her worriness and anxiety as she waits for the pirate and her dress is beautiful.
