Graveyard Snowfallby *JesIdres

This is The Old Burying Ground of Harvard Square- where many of the presidents of Harvard have been buried. It's also on my way home from work.

On Monday on my way home from my work place (the ONLY university not to close when the Giant Snow of Doom...bites when all of your roomates work for various schools around town and you're the only one who has to tromp outside), the graveyard looked almost abandoned under a foot of snow.

I whipped out my camera and got this pan.

The Old Burying Ground is much older than Mount Auburn, the more famous graveyard in the area (and where far too many relatives lie). Because of that it's harder to get permission to get inside (Mount Auburn was the first "garden cemetery" in America, meant to be both park and burying ground).

Still, it's rather lovely when you can get a shot like this- for once the world is as quiet as the dead.
