Why don't I draw Harry Potter anymore? Well, it's Terry Pratchett's fault, really. Sure, they're both fantasy, but Fantasy is just another view of reality, really.... and after enjoying a good balance of drama and humor and reality in the first books, you can stand whining for so long. And when an ENTIRE BOOK whines, and an author kill people not because it moves the plot, or because it fits the characters actions, but to drum up headlines, you start wondering if the author is writing to tell a story or make a buck.

I'll admit that meeting Terry Pratchett may have biased me slightly- he's an international best seller and millions of fans, but involving fans in the process and explaining why everything happens in a book, even if the fans don't like it, makes the books easy to pick up and enjoy. And every time he promotes a book, I have the feeling he doesn't mind if you don't like a specific character. It's his story, he doesn't need to defend it, but he'll humor you anyways. And his children's books don't talk down to them, they treat them like the little adults they are, who just need some maturity. As an education Masters degree holder, I love this- most modern teaching theories work using the same qualities found in a Pratchett book.

I know there are people who are Pratchett and Rowling fans, and some people don't like either. These are my opinions, not fact.

I need to practice Tiffany more.

This prefectly explains why I prefer the Discworld books over the Harry Potter books.
